A new idea
I have not discussed this with Jill, but I propose the following idea and would like your comments.
Many of you have words that are difficult for you to remember or to pronounce. I am thinking that Jill and I could do a podcast where we talk about English. We would accept email requests from Linguist members who can submit lists of words (Select , create a list, and then cut and past from the REVIEW section). Requests could even be posted here.
Jill and I will talk about how these words are used and acknowledge by name the member who sent in the list. I think that in responding to the needs of one learner we can help many. Is this of interest?

Hi, Steve:
I think that it would be a great idea. I would like to be part of this if it is possible. I am having a hard time remembering my list of words I am learning.
Hi Steve
I haven't reviewed my words list for a long time since I don't think that I CAN deal with 2362 words in my database. To tell you the truth, I already gave up reviewing all my new words in the Linguist review section!!
I found that the more time I spend on reviewing words, the less enjoyment I have in learning English. That's why I just like keeping listening and read interesting contents. However, I still worry so much about all the new words in my database that I haven't finished!!
The more contents I study, the more words I save in my database, the more pressure I have in my English learning!!
I have learned English at the Linguist for two years. I’ve learned much from the Linguist, but I also forget many new words that I once learned. I decided to reread and re-listen to all of my old contents, but it is a huge task!!! Reviewing words and contents is always a big problem for a long-time Linguist member like me!! I don’t know if you face the same problem while you learn a new language at the Linguist!! How do you deal with this problem!!
Jill once told me that new Linguist system will offer a function which learner can listen to individual word’s pronunciation at the review page!! Is that right??
Anyway, I look forward to listening to your podcast show with Jill!!
That is a good idea.
The more we listen to contents the more words we have to review and need to retain.
of course you will say..I also listen to my old contents to jog my memory but I don't how it will be in a few months with still more contents.
I read about a new system, what is it? when will it be in function?
Yes, this sounds very helpful!
AJ has explained some words and phrases that are used on one of his contents. Those words and phrases were memorable. The example sentences in the dictionary are not contextual and seem to be forgettable.
I find it hard to figure out which words and phrases are often used or rarely used. If this podcast carries out, It would be thankful if you memtion that in it.
Steve, a strange thing happens. Your best learners confess you they gave up reviewing words at The Linguist. ;-)
Today is the first day for me to be an official member of The Linguist :)
I have only a few words and phrase on my list yet. I, however, found it was less effective to review the words and phrases than I thought it would be.
I might be such a cheater, but I memorize the length or first few words of the sentences so that I can pick the right answer without looking at the options. I also have feeling that I do not learn other ways to use those words and phrase because I have the same question over and over.
I think it would be nice how those words and phrases can be used in different context. maybe you might able to tell us other expressions, too.
the more content you add to your "my files" the more different examples you will see in your tests. The examples all come from content you have selected so over time you will have more possible sentences to choose from for each word. Anyway, you don't need to test each word 7 times correctly in the same day. Test the words once or twice today and then they will gradually appear again over time in your daily review list.
